Westchester Jewish Community Services Receives Grant from CJ Foundation for SIDS

The CJ Foundation for SIDS is the largest, leading SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) organization in the U.S.

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) announced today that it has received a $8,750 grant from the CJ Foundation for SIDS, the largest, leading SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) organization in the U.S.

The grant will allow the WJCS SIDS Education & Support Program to provide an ongoing support group for parents who have lost children to SIDS, educate the public about risk prevention and infant safety, and distribute bi-lingual risk-prevention materials. This outreach targets pregnant women, new mothers, staff at day care/child care centers, medical centers, clinics, caregivers of infants and visiting nurse staff to dispel myths and educate them about sleep positions and sleep safety for their babies.

“The CJ Foundation for SIDS is proud to support the important work of WJCS SIDS Education & Support Program through this grant,” said Susan Hollander, Executive Director of the CJ Foundation. “We are acutely aware of how important education is in reducing the risk of SIDS and infant death due to unsafe sleep environments. Education is a critical part of our mission and we will continue to support programs and organizations that advocate public awareness.”

The CJ Foundation for SIDS was founded by Joel and Susan Hollander in memory of their daughter, Carly Jenna, who died from SIDS in 1993. Since its inception in 1994, the CJ Foundation has provided millions of dollars towards SIDS research, bereavement support programs, and education and public awareness initiatives throughout the U.S., making tremendous strides in its fight to end SIDS.
