Yonkers Trot Winner to Receive Invitation to Global Yonkers International Trot
YONKERS TROT WINNER TO GET INTERNATIONAL INVITE; NORWAY'S PAPAGAYO E. INJURED, NOT EXPECTED TO DEFEND YONKERS INTERNATIONAL CROWN.

Yonkers Raceway has announced that the winner of the 62nd annual Yonkers Trot for three-year-olds will automatically receive an invitation to the 38th edition of the global Yonkers International Trot.
The signature stakes for three-year-old trotters is set for Saturday night, September 3, and will be a launching pad for the 1 ¼-mile classic for the best trotters in the world on Saturday afternoon, October 15.
“These are two of the premier trotting events in the sport, and we felt the three-year-old who wins our Yonkers Trot deserves a chance to be on the gate with the world’s best,” Raceway COO Bob Galterio said.

“We are compiling a list of some outstanding horses for our Yonkers International Trot,” race secretary Steve Starr said. “Unfortunately, last season’s winner, Norway's Papagayo E., is injured and won’t be able to defend his title, but there’s going to be a very strong field nonetheless.”
More information about the 2016 Yonkers International Trot will be announced shortly.
