NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The youngest person to fly solo around the world — and the only black person to do so — visited Isaac E. Young Middle School in New Rochelle Tuesday to meet with seventh and eighth graders.
Barrington Irving, whose 2007 flight set a Guinness World Record, talked to the students about The Flying Classroom, a cutting-edge digital curriculum that makes science, technology, engineering and math applicable to the lives of young people.
According to his website, Experience Aviation, Irving was born in Miami, built a plane himself, graduated magna cum laude from an aeronautical science program and founded an educational nonprofit.
