📰 News we're reading

• Niskayuna steps up e-bike safety education, explores enforcement measures on Balltown Road (cbs6albany.com) — Niskayuna officials are ramping up e‑bike safety education and enforcement, especially along busy Balltown Road near the high school, where police have installed a speed‑display message board. Town leaders are clarifying age limits, sidewalk bans, and possible helmet requirements while also using new state funding to add sidewalks near Hillside and Craig elementary schools and improve crossings on Grand Boulevard.

• No longer seeing red: Paint removed from Niskayuna street (wnyt.com) — Neighbors on Grand Boulevard in Niskayuna will no longer see the controversial bright red pavement markings, after Schenectady County removed the paint from the county-owned road. The color had been added to slow traffic and highlight parking lanes, but nearby residents and town leaders said they weren’t warned and felt it clashed with the historic neighborhood’s character.
