• Rabies-infected Bat Found On Tonawanda Creek Road (wblk.com) — Health officials have confirmed that a bat found on Tonawanda Creek Road in North Tonawanda tested positive for rabies after an encounter with a vaccinated dog. The dog only needed a booster shot, but three household members were evaluated as a precaution. With August bringing more bat activity across Western New York, residents are urged to handle any bats carefully and contact health authorities for testing when possible.
