2 Residents Injured In Armed Home Invasion, Assault

Police said in an update Saturday they believe the Long Island home invasion was a targeted crime.

GREENPORT, NY — Two residents of a Greenport apartment were injured during an armed home invasion Friday, police said Saturday in an update.

Southold Police said detectives are continuing to investigate the crime, which took place Friday at 4:49 a.m. on Center Street, when three men wearing masks entered the apartment in what authorities believe was a targeted crime.

Once inside, the masked men assaulted the two occupants of the apartment, who were injured, treated and released at local hospitals, police said.

It's not yet clear what, if anything, was taken during the home invasion, police said.

The scene was processed by members of the Suffolk County Crime Lab and the Suffolk County ID section Friday.

No one is in custody yet, Southold Town Police Chief Martin Flatley said.
