GREENPORT, NY — The 2nd Annual Greenport Skate Park Sound & Skate Festival is set to bring a crowd to the village soon.
The event takes place on Saturday, October 7 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the skate park on Moores Lane.
According to organizer Rena Wilhelm, who has worked tirelessly to breathe new life into the facility, Will Anguila of Limitless Culture will be hosting a skate contest and Phil Staples, the event's music director, has lined up several bands for live music performances.

"We are looking forward to another family friendly day," Wilhelm said.
Last year the event was held in August and the heat was prohibitive, so this year, the date was moved to October, she said.
Reflecting on the first event, Wilhelm said: "It was probably one of the best days of my entire year last year as we celebrated our community and increased the awareness of why this park plays such a significant role in the lives of our kids and those who have grown up at the park," she said. "The park continues to deteriorate, but with a new mayor who has committed to supporting our cause, we are hopeful that the park will receive the attention it so rightly deserves."
