SOUTHOLD, NY — A popular event that delighted scores who enjoyed the fun last year is back for its second season in Southold Town.

The economic development committee of Southold Town announced recently that its annual WinterFest event will take place on Main Road on February 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; a rain date is scheduled for February 19.

Leveraging the very successful WinterFest 2022, the annual event "celebrates the community of Southold and promotes its many local businesses and organizations," organizers said. All residents, out-of-towners and interested Southold businesses are invited. Scores of local businesses and organizations and hundreds of visitors are expected to participate, organizers added.

The event, free to all residents and visitors, will feature many local businesses and organizations. It will also include live entertainment, free food and beverages, activities for adults and children, and special events and prizes.

“In 2021, we started talking about developing a winter event to support our local businesses and provide something fun and exciting for both visitors and Southold Town residents. In 2022, we created the template for this event, which attracted more than 30 organizations and hundreds of visitors. That enabled us to create a solid launching pad for the 2023 event. We expect participation to double this year. An experienced operations team is in place and we already have participation commitments from many more local businesses and organizations,” said Jack Malley, chairperson of the Southold EDC.
