“These are two very qualified candidates that are looking to unseat Republican Lee Zeldin in November,” said club co-president Debbie O’Kane in a release by the club. “This important debate will give, not just Democrats but, all residents an opportunity to learn more about these candidates ahead of June’s primary.”
Zeldin, from Brookhaven Town, is seeking his first reelection bid since winning the 1st Congressional District seat; he defeated six-term Democratic incumbent Tim Bishop of Southampton in 2014.

“This free event is meant to give the residents of Southold Town better access to information important to our district,” said O’Kane. “We are pleased that Anna and Dave have agreed to make themselves available ahead of this very important primary race.”
The debate comes after a breakfast, the first event sponsored by the recently-formed Southold Town Democratic Club, which featured former congressman Tim Bishop who gave a talk on the importance of the 1st Congressional District to the people of Southold Town.
