Arrest Made In Murder Of Greenport Man Found In Apartment: Police

The Greenport man died of blunt force trauma — and a Mastic Beach man has been arrested and charged, police say.

GREENPORT, NY — A Mastic Beach man has been arrested and charged in the murder of a man who died three days after being found injured in a Greenport apartment, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, Hraklis Morris, 46, was arrested at his Cedar Road East home Wednesday at 6:21 p.m. and charged with second-degree murder.

Modesto Salguero-Guillen died on July 3 at South Shore University Hospital, three days after being injured at the Lakeside Garden Apartments in Greenport. His cause of death has been determined to be blunt force trauma, police said.

Morris, 46, was held overnight at the Yaphank Correctional Facility and will be arraigned on Thursday at Suffolk County Supreme Court in Riverhead, police said.

Modesto Salguero-Guillen, 48, of Greenport, was found seriously injured on June 30 and died at the hospital on July 3 at 8 a.m., police said.

Southold Town Police Chief Martin Flatley said he was originally transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead because of the nature of his injuries; PBMC made the decision to move him to South Shore for medical reasons, Flatley said.
