A World of My Own (Brittney Maier)

About two months ago some family, and I went to see Brittney Maier. Autistic and blind since a young age, she has an amazing gift for music. Brittney plays the piano as well as the keyboard. She has many songs that she plays from memory. One song was from Billy Joel.

When seeing Brittney play it was hard to keep a straight face — her music brought me to tears, and I would see not only her music but her inner beauty. As Brittney played, I could remember the days when I played the piano, sang and danced and the joy I had in it, I could definitely see that in Brittney, but even more so with her mom, Tammy, sitting beside her singing.
