Pet of the Week: Adopt a Purebred or Designer Dog at Southold's Shelter
The Town of Southold Animal Shelter has purebreds up for adoption.
It's the perfect time to go find your new best canine friend at the — the kennels are bursting at the seams with many beautiful dogs, some of them purebred.
This week Gabby Glantzman, shelter office manager, asked if we could step it up a notch in order for the shelter to be able to keep up with the demand of the animals in need of rescue, while showing that purebreds are available at the shelter as well.
"People coming here to adopt instead of going to a pet shop can help us continue to save animal's lives," Glantzman said.

• Cheech is one lucky hound to be alive, after he was found in Mattituck after being loose for an entire 3 weeks. He is a sweet and gentle boy who actual comes out of his shell when he's around other dogs. He'd be happiest with a loving family who already has one or more dogs.
• Treasure is an endearing 8-year-old dachsund who was found wandering as a stray with his mom. He is a gentle little soul who likes to play and snuggle.
• Beatrice is an adorable 7-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who loves to play. She'd be a great addition to any family.
• Brownie is pretty little sweetie who became homeless after her owner died. This adorable little Dachshund with a velvety coat is only 4-years-old and gets along with other doggies.
• Last and definitely not least is Roully, who is now homeless because her previous owner's landlord did not want her in the house. Roully is a gorgeous girl who loves other dogs and should go into a home with older children because of the exhuberance and strength that goes along with being an 8-month-old Siberian Husky puppy.
Shannon Chute, shelter employee was ecstatic to hear that we were going to highlight the above group of dogs this week: "This is great — we have so many wonderful dogs here right now that need forever homes."
