Pet of the Week: Loving Lucy Lou at the Southold Animal Shelter
An adorable senior pitbull has been at the Town of Southold Animal Shelter for over two years where she's made some dear friends -- but deserves a family of her own.
As we approach Valentine's Day, many of us reiterate our feelings for those people closest to us — and of course it's befitting that the animals so dear to our hearts are showed endearment as as well.
But for those in animal rescue, there are strong and mixed feelings that tug at the heartstrings all year round with the extra special connections that are made with animals, like that of 9-year-old Lucy Lou, current boarder at the and her buddy, office manager Gabby Glantzman.
Lucy Lou has been at the Town of Southold Animal Shelter since her owner died in September of 2009, and even though a friendship has grown, Glantzman knows how much happier Lucy Lou will be when she finds her forever home.

"Lucy Lou is my personal favorite! She loves to rub on everyone, as she is a real love," Glantzman said."
Glantzman also shared with us that: "Lucy Lou loves going for walks, and is a pleasure to have walking on a leash."

And as she walks, Lucy shows off her greatest Pitbull physical trait. "I think she has the best wiggle butt ever," Glantzman said.
While having a beautiful repertoire with all humans, Lucy Lou must go into a home where she'll be the only pet.
And even though this canine is considered a seniore at nine years old, Lucy is still young at heart and gets very excited over her toys -- so she needs to go to a home with no young children.
All things considered, there's no doubt that Lucy Lou will be a positive addition to one special family. "It's just a matter of finding her the right home," Glantzman said.
