The Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council & Museums will host a reenactment battle of the Patriots against the British on the front lawn of the Village Green in Cutchogue. This battle commemorates the 250thanniversary of the Battle of Oysterponds and pits the 3rd NY regiment, 1775 Long Island, against His Majesty’s 23rd Regiment of Foot, Royal Welsh Fusiliers. The day will include Camp activities such as guard, patrol, fatigue duty, etc.; Drills like manual of arms, field maneuvers, musket volleys; 18th Century cooking demonstrations; Children's drills (Children participate in drill activities); Cannon demonstration; People of the 18th Century (clothing & accoutrements) and Tactical Weapons demonstration ( The Battle!). August 9th, 10 am-3 pm, rain date August 10. Entry fee is $5, children under 12 free. Program funded by the Suffolk County Dept. of Economic Development and Planning and Legislator Stark.
