Car Crashes Into Utility Pole, Wires Down In Peconic

BREAKING: A stretch of Route 25 in Peconic is closed in both directions after a crash caused downed wires.

PECONIC, NY — A single car crash into a utility pole on Route 25 in Peconic Tuesday morning left wires dangling precariously over the road, officials said.

The crash, which took place around 9:30 a.m., involved a woman who was heading west on Route 25 and struck a pole, first responders at the scene said.

Although she was transported by ambulance to Eastern Long Island Hospital, it is not believed that she suffered life threatening injurers, an official at the scene said.

Route 25 is expected to remain closed in both directions for some time; motorists are asked to find an alternate route, officials said.
