Closing Capital One Branch Makes Donation to Cutchogue Fire Department

The bank made the donation before closing earlier this month.

The Cutchogue branch of Capital One, which recently closed down earlier this month, donated $2,000 to the Cutchogue Fire Department before doing so.

Capital One branch manager Diane Biondi, district manager David McDowell and treasurer Patty Stewart, who is also a member of the Cutchogue Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, presented the department with the donation last month.

“The firefighters have supported the Cutchogue community in many ways,” McDowell said. “Capital One has always been a supporter of volunteer fire departments here.”

The money will go towards the firefighters’ community programs, Fire Chief Bill Brewer said, like its scholarships and Christmas celebrations.

He said the department was “grateful” for the bank’s support over the years.

“It’s obviously a sad thing to see them leave,” Brewer said. “We’ve always been proud of working with them.”
