MATTITUCK, NY — The public will soon have a chance to weigh in on a new hotel proposed for the site of the former Capital One administration building on Main Road in Mattituck.

The Mattituck-Laurel Civic Association will host the meeting on Monday, January 30, in the Mattituck-Laurel Library's community room from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. The library is located at 13900 Main Road in Mattituck.

Speaking about the plans for the property — which include a 121-room hotel totaling 200,087 square feet, a restaurant, catering facility and indoor recreation on 11.8 acres at 9105 Main Road — will be developer D'Wayne Prieto. Prieto represents the Cardinale family, who owns the property.

When the proposal was first pitched in 2018, plans were for a three-story, 200 room hotel at the site; at that time an application was submitted to the Southold Town building department on Feb. 20, 2018, according to a notice of disapproval obtained by Patch.

The Southold Town building department issued that notice of disapproval on March 23, 2018, noting that the proposed three-story building would not be allowed under town code in the business district, which limits building height to two stories.
