Crash Closes Portion Of Route 48 In Southold In 2 Directions: PD

SOUTHOLD, NY — A crash in Southold is expected to leave a portion of Route 48 closed for most of the day Thursday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the single-car crash took place at 6:28 a.m. at the intersection of Richmond Road and Route 48.

The Southold Fire Department responded and transported the driver and a passenger to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

As a result of the crash, utility lines and a pole are blocking the roadway, and Route 48 is closed in both directions, police said.

Westbound traffic is being diverted down Soundview Avenue to Old North Road and eastbound traffic is being diverted down Boisseau Avenue to Route 25, police said.
