Dr. John Cosgrove has just performed the first Laparoscopic Surgery utilizing cutting edge technology at ELIH. Just exactly how advanced is this new technology? Well, 4K (UHD) is four times the resolution of current 1080p Blu-ray optics.

We asked Dr. Cosgrove, who is Chief of Minimally Invasive and General Surgery at ELIH if he can see the difference.

“Yes”, he said. “It can almost replicate the human eye.”

He went on to say, “This can potentially transform laparoscopic surgery due to the increased clarity, contrast and depth of field. This will lead to increased accuracy and precision.”
