Fire Destroys Shed At Local Farm
Firefighters were on the scene quickly and contained the flames to one small shed on the property.
PECONIC, NY — Firefighters raced to the scene of a fire that broke out in a shed at a North Fork farm early Thursday morning.
According to Southold Fire Department Chief Craig Goldsmith, the fire, which broke out at Breeze Hill Farm off County Road 48 in Peconic at around 8 a.m., was contained to one small shed/outbuilding on the property.
Southold Fire Department knocked the flames down quickly, he said. No injuries were reported and only the shed, which was completely gutted, was affected.

Thankfully, the flames were contained, preventing a scenario that could have been worse, he said. "It could have extended into other buildings," Goldsmith said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, he said.
