Upon arrival, Chief Haas reported a single-car crash into the woods with the driver trapped within the vehicle and the passenger able to exit on their own, officials said. Heavy rescue, two ambulances, and an engine responded, along with fire police who shut down eastbound traffic as crews operated, officials said.
Members from heavy rescue stabilized the vehicle using Res-Q-Jacks, since the front end was suspended on a tree; they also used the “Jaws of Life” to remove the door in order to extricate the driver, officials said. Due to the quick actions by MFD members, the driver was extricated within six minutes of arrival of heavy rescue, officials said.
