First Annual Mushroom Cook-Off to Kick Off This Weekend

The event was originally scheduled for Oct. 3 but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The 1st annual East End Mushroom Company Mushroom Cook-Off, which was originally scheduled for Oct. 3, will be taking place this weekend.

The event was postponed earlier this month due to the inclement weather that weekend.

However, this weekend, guests can expect about 40 local and regional chefs who will be cooking up dishes with the mushrooms grown by the East End Mushroom Compnay including: Maitake, Shiitake, and Oyster.

There will also be live music by The Earthtones and beer.

The event will kick off on Saturday, October 24 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Macari Vineyards on 150 Bergen Avenue in Mattituck.

Participating restaurants include: Claudio’s, First and South, Grana, noah’s, Touch of Venice, Tutto il Giorno, Vine Street Cafe, chef Kyle Koenig (formerly of Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton), and more.

The Cook-Off will also feature a panel of judges, and an awards ceremony for the top three dishes.

All of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Maureen’s Haven and C.A.S.T.
