GREENPORT, NY — Greenport came alive with holiday magic Sunday as the annual parade of lights and tree lighting, originally set for Saturday but postponed until Sunday due to the weather forecast, brought out a festive crowd.

The parade, complete with dazzling and decked-out firetrucks and beloved holiday characters such as penguins, bears and elves, kicked off at the corner of Main and Center Streets and continued to Mitchell Park, followed by caroling by students and the tree lighting ceremony,

Visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, including gifts for all the children, followed. Cookies and hot cocoa were also shared by the many in attendance.
