Greenport Fire Department Plans Upgrade To Firehouse

The Greenport Fire Department is planning to upgrade their current firehouse located at 236 3rd Street.

At a Greenport Village Board work session earlier this week, Chief Harry Breese requested a future meeting of the board and fire department trustees to discuss the renovation options, The Suffolk Times reports.

According to the agenda from the session, H2M architects + engineers drafted three options for the renovations:

• Option one is an infrastructure and building upgrade work and would cost $1,987,621.
• Option two is an addition and alterations to the headquarters at $3,857,242.
• Option three is a completely new headquarters to be built on the same site at $7,161,468.

However these costs are a “ballpark figure” and have been prepared with no ”formal programming process or schematic design phase process” according to a letter to the chief from H2M architects + engineers.

There is no set date for the joint meeting and the subject was not discussed at the Monday meeting, The Suffolk Times reports.
