Greenport, Southold School Districts to Continue to Share Superintendent
The two districts decided in 2013 to have a joint superintendent.

The Greenport and Southold school districts decided on Thursday to continue their agreement started in 2013 to share one superintendent for the two districts.
Current superintendent David Gamberg, who has maintained the role at both districts since 2014, will continue his role until his two-year contract expires at the end of this school year.
“I’m certainly willing to continue this arrangement,” Gamberg, told The Suffolk Times. “I see it as being beneficial to the taxpayers and it’s my hope and expectation that we will continue to realize positive, shared resource opportunities for both districts by my being in the two systems.”

This plan helps each district to save over $100,000 each, and is “helpful to preserve staff positions and programs for students,” Gamberg told SoutholdLocal.
The two boards of educations will be continuing to discuss this issue during their meetings this month.
