Greenport's 'March Of The Goblins & Hounds' Kicks off Saturday

The Halloween parade will be fun for kids and four-legged friends, too.

GREENPORT, NY — Tiny goblins and witches galore will gather in Greenport Saturday morning for the "March of the Goblins & Hounds."

The costume contest and parade, which includes family fun activities for kids and pets, kicks off at Floyd Memorial Library at 10 a.m.

The event will begin with a costume parade for humans and canines which kicks off at Floyd Memorial Library at 10 a.m., makes its way down Main Street and finishes up in Mitchell Park.

Afterward, in the park, there will be a costume contest, free rides on the carousel, children’s games and cotton candy and popcorn machines. An agility course and bobbing for tennis balls will be set up to amuse four-legged participants.

There will be first, second and third place ribbons awarded for costumes in six categories: family, scariest, canine, canine/human duo, cutest and best homemade.

Painted pumpkins created by Greenport students will be on display at the Little Red Schoolhouse on Front Street.

The event is sponsored by the Greenport BID along with the Village of Greenport, Floyd Memorial Library, and the Greenport Parent Teachers Organization.
