Greenport's Planned Power Outage, Part 2

The new date for the Greenport power interruption has not yet been determined.

NORTH FORK, NY - A planned power outage for Greenport residents initially slated to take place Friday morning at 3 a.m. has been rescheduled.

According to the Village of Greenport, there were difficulties experienced during the transfer of load from one transformer to the other. While some customers lost power for an hour, others did not.

“The cause of the problems has not yet been determined, and the village is working to finalize the issues and affect any necessary repairs,” a statement read.

Notice of the rescheduled interruption date will be given as soon as possible, village officials said.

The outage, which is necessary for equipment testing, is not expected to last more than one hour for any one customer.

Village residents are asked to take any special precautions for those whose medical equipment might be affected by the outage.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation,” village officials said in a release.
