Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Ahead For Monday Across Long Island: NWS
Isolated wind gusts of up to 55 mph are expected, NWS says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Strong winds and heavy rain are expected across Long Island Monday, the National Weather Service said.
A wind advisory is in effect across Long Island from 2 p.m. Monday through 4 a.m. Tuesday, the NWS said.
Strong winds are likely Monday afternoon into Monday night; winds of 15 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts of 35 to 50 mph and isolated gusts of up to 55 mph possible, the NWS said.

Locally heavy rainfall is possible through Monday night; minor urban/poor drainage flooding is the main concern, but localized flash flooding along with flashier river and stream rises are possible, the NWS said.
A severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out in the evening with damaging wind gusts in excess of 58 mph, the NWS said.

Gale conditions are expected on all waters with minor beach erosion possible, the NWS said.
