Held Hostage by the Hampton Jitney

Change in policies leave customers paying more, and getting less than advertised.

Simple enough. You pay for a service, and you recieve it. But that's not always the case with the Infamous Hampton Jitney. In a very interesting gray area, they operate almost as a full monopoly. The main competitor is LIRR and a 3 train Schedule that costs $30 is easy to pass on. That leaves us with a company, that has bought ALL its private competition. They now require Riders to allow unfettered access to their Credit Cards in order to hold a reservation. Threatening Fee's and Penalty's for missed reservations. The issue is not that.

The Jitney, as it is called, is a hit or miss adventure. Dirty busses, bathrooms disgusting with broken doors. A promise of Sponsored Wi-Fi that is in constant repair. Old busses are often sent out, without inspection, causing for changes in busses mid trip. The list is long, yet as the company continues to go down hill the price goes up? Taking two busses and mixing North and South Fork Passangers at unscheduled stops is clearly a burden for the passangers, and Extreamly profitable for the Hampton Jitney to have passangers at different price points on the same bus, saving the company the money to do what was paid for, by the customers. A shame. A slight of hand. A manipulation. All ways to say: as this company grows our ability to comfortably travel on and off the East End is made smaller. It happens in the faces of the town we rely on, yet the only interest shown is in bus shelters. I am afraid the Hampton Jitney is more unreliable the more they charge.
