Homes Evacuated Due To Gas Leak In Southold: Police
The leak also lead to traffic detours Wednesday afternoon, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A gas leak was reported in Southold Wednesday afternoon, leading to the evacuation of area homes, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the report came in at 4:15 about a natural gas leak at a pumping station on Main Road. Southold Police and the Southold Fire Department responded; a perimeter was established, including traffic detours, police said.
National Grid responded and, as of 5:45 p.m., was working to fix the problem, police said.
