Who Won? Victors Declared In Southold

GOP candidates took the lead Tuesday night in Southold.

NORTH FORK, NY — Voters turned out Tuesday on the North Fork to make their voices heard — and two GOP candidates led the race against their Democratic counterparts.

Incumbent Southold Town Councilman Jim Dinizio received 3805 votes and incumbent Councilman Bob Ghosio, 3540. Dem candidate Mary Eisenstein has 3417 and Debbie O'Kane, 2694.

"I want to thank all of the people that supported me and promise to work for the betterment of all in the town," Dinizio told Patch.

"I feel honored to be elected once again," Ghosio said. "It was a very tight race this time and I realize that I will need to work harder to keep the public’s confidence in the job I’m doing. I look forward to continuing to work to keep our town the wonderful place it is and representing the townspeople to the best of my ability. I’m especially thankful to all the volunteers who helped make the campaign a success. I also congratulate Councilman Jim Dinizio in his win as well as all my fellow Republican colleagues who worked so hard to bring us to the finish line."

Incumbent Southold Town Highway Superintendent Vincent Orlando, a Republican, also took the lead with 3626 votes to Democratic challenger Eugene Wesnofske's 3339.

GOP candidate Eileen Powers led the town justice race with 4354 votes; Dem Robert Meguin garnered 2394.

In the town assessor's race, GOP candidates again led the race, with Kevin Webster receiving 4760 votes, Charles Sanders, 3936, and Dem candidate Damon Rallis, 3032.

In the town trustee race, newcomer GOP candidate Gregory Williams took the lead with 4367 votes, followed by John Bredemeyer with 4185, and Mike Domino with 3973.

Dem Derek Bossen garnered 2613 and Elizabeth Smith, 3147.
