Man Appears To Grab Rifle, Makes Threats In Tenant Dispute: Cops

The man made threatening statements, appeared to grab a rifle, locked himself in the home and was later arrested, police say.

LAUREL, NY — A Laurel man was arrested after a tenant-landlord dispute, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place on Wednesday at 7:27 p.m. on Aldrich Ln. Police headed to the address after a caller said that Andrew Watroba, 40, "made threatening statements, grabbed what appeared to be a rifle, and locked himself inside the residence," police said.

Southold Police responded and surrounded the residence; Suffolk County Police Emergency Services Unit was also called to respond, police said.

Prior to the arrival of Suffolk County Police, Watroba exited the residence and attempted to enter a vehicle, police said.

He was quickly apprehended by Southold Police, arrested for an active arrest warrant stemming from a prior incident, and taken into custody, police said.
