Man Charged With Felony DWI In Greenport Also Found With Cocaine: PD
He was arrested Sunday, police say.

GREENPORT, NY — A Peconic man was arrested Sunday night after he was found driving while intoxicated, and also with cocaine, police said.
Cesar Chavez-Ruiz, 37, was arrested at 6:43 p.m. on Seventh St.in Greenport, Southold Town police said. He was charged with felony DWI due to a previous conviction within 10 years; operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of.08 of 1 percent, prior; moving from lane unsafely; driving without a license; and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Police said they received a report regarding the driver of a blue 2002 Jeep Liberty failing to maintain its lane of travel eastbound on Rt. 48 in Southold. The vehicle was last seen turning east onto Rt. 25 from Chapel Ln. in Greenport; officers found, and stopped, the vehicle for traffic violations on Seventh St. in Greenport, police said.

Chavez-Ruiz was arrested and taken to Southold Town police headquarters, where he was processed and then held to await morning arraignment, police said. Chavez-Ruiz was also found with a small bag of cocaine in his wallet, police said.
His vehicle was seized per the Suffolk County DWI seizure law, police said.
