Man Charged With Strangling Greenport Woman To Death Pleads Not Guilty: DA
BREAKING: He was held on $1 million cash bail or $2 million bond, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says

GREENPORT, NY — A man charged with strangling a woman to death in Greenport pleaded not guilty to one charge of second degree murder on Thursday, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.
Jaime DeLeon-Tito, 23, of Greenport, was arraigned and indicted in Riverhead criminal court, Spota said.
DeLeon-Tito, 23, was arrested July 11 for the strangulation murder the night before of Michelle Schiavoni, 27, of Greenport; she was found dead in her home on Second Street in Greenport on July 10, Spota said.

State Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro ordered DeLeon-Tito held on one million dollars cash bail, or two million dollars bond, Spota said.
DeLeon-Tito is slated to return to court on August 17, Spota said.

Suffolk Police Homicide Squad detectives located DeLeon-Tito on Osborne Avenue in Riverhead after Schiavoni was found dead, police said.
Police have not said if there was any relationship between Schiavoni and DeLeon-Tito.
