Memory Of Young Woman Lost Too Soon Honored At Yankee Game
Watch the video here as Kaitlyn Doorhy's beautiful life is honored, along with Kait's Angels, at Sunday's Yankee game.
MATTITUCK, NY — Kait's Angels, the not-for-profit organization organized to do good works in honor of Kaitlyn Doorhy, who died while away at college in 2014, was honored in a big way Sunday — the group was chosen as the New York Yankees' State Farm "Good Neighbor Of The Month."
Although the Yankees lost 3 to 2 to the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday, the team were winners all the way to the proud members of Kait's Angels who attended the home game at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
As Kaitlyn's smiling face was featured on the Jumbotron before the crowd, the announcer explained that her life was "tragically cut short when a car lost control and struck her while walking on the sidewalk on campus."

A scholar who spent her young life giving back, Kaitlyn was "considered a force in her small Long Island community. In the midst of this tragedy Kaitlyn's family and friends immediately formed Kait's Angels," dedicated to giving back through volunteerism, community service, and random acts of kindness, the announcer said. He led the crowd in a huge round of applause as members of Kait's Angels were featured, waving a banner, on the Jumbotron.
Darla Doorhy said the group was chosen due to their mission of keeping Kait's memory alive through Angel Acts of Kindness.

Present at the game were Matt and Hailey Rolle; Matt is a young dad battling cancer and Kait's Angels has worked tirelessly over the past months to raise funds to help him and Dylan Newman of Southold, a teen also waging a war against the disease.
Funds were raised by Kait's Angels, Wendy's Deli and the Handry Pantry, with a total of $10,500 raised so far through a lottery tree, raffles at Wendy's Deli, Kait's Angels fundraisers including a Designer Handbag Wingo night, a Poker Run, and the recent annual Kait's Angel's Yard Sale, and a bike raffle at Handy Pantry.
Dylan and his family were invited but were unable to attend.
Also at the game were Kait's Angels sponsors, volunteers, family and friends. "We were VIPs all day," Doorhy said. "The game was so exciting. It was a day to remember, as we watched our Kaitlyn on the Jumbotron. God bless our angel above."
