MATTITUCK, NY — A new fundraiser has been planned to delight local kids on Easter — and to benefit the Mattituck High School Athletic Booster Club.

"Egg My Yard" takes place the night before Easter, when Mattituck junior and senior high school athletes will "help the Easter Bunny" hide plastic, candy-filled eggs on the front lawns of those participating, so kids can wake up to a fun-filled egg hunt, said Michelle Clark, who organized the event.

"The athletic booster club is all about supporting our athletes," Clark said. The group helps to provide scholarships to graduating seniors, she added.

"Due to the effect of Covid, we have not been able to raise any money," Clark said. "I thought the 'Egg My Yard' would benefit not only the booster club but the community as a whole. A great way to get the athletes involved while providing a safe and fun experience for the kids."

Eggs cost $30 for 35, $45 for 50, and $55 for 75; orders are due by March 31; addresses from Laurel to Southold are eligible for "egging."

To take part in the fun, email a name, cell number, address, and number of eggs to mattituckboosterclub@gmail.com. Payment can be made by Venmo to @mattituck-athletic-bc.

Those taking part should tape a piece of white paper to the front door so kids know they are egging the right house.
