A friend of a Kaithlyn Doorhy, a Mattituck woman who died in August, announced the launch of a new charitable group, “Kait’s Angels“.

According to a post by Molly Waitz on the “Rest In Peace Kait Doorhy” Facebook page, Kait’s Angels is a non profit group whose main focus is to “pick up where Kaitlyn left off”.

“She was a giver and that is exactly what we would like to do,” the post reads. “We act as her stand in Angels. We will host food drives, clothing drives, volunteer at local events and gatherings. We strive for the better of the people just as Kait would and hope to serve the community in a way that will make Kaitlyn proud.”

“I met with many people over this week including the Doorhy family all who agree that this is exactly what Kaityln would do,” Waitz wrote. “She would sign up and volunteer to help with anything needed.”

Waitz also added that they are looking for people who are interested in becoming an ”Angel” and helping out the group.

They will be hosting their first event, a Holiday food and cold weather clothing drive, in December. They will be distributing clothes to people in need and helping to fill up the local food pantries.
