North Fork Teen Rejoices to Learn Lost Wallet, With Deceased Mom's Photo, Was Returned
Bekah Connor said she's thankful that honest people still exist in the world, and that God was watching out for her.
LAUREL, NY — Sometimes, there are happy endings. Just ask Bekah Conner, a Laurel teen who was heartbroken last week when she lost her wallet, containing a precious photo of her mother, who died in 2013.
But on Sunday, Conner got the best news of all: A kind stranger returned the walled to the Jones Beach administration — with the photo of her mother safe inside.
"I'm so happy," she said. When she called to find out of the photo was still in the wallet, she was first put on hold. "Then she came back on the phone and described the photo, and I cried."

Conner said she's grateful for the outpouring of support she received on social media after she first posted the story about her missing wallet on her Facebook page. An article about the missing wallet was later posted on Patch.
"Thank you everyone who shared my post about my wallet missing," she said.

She added, "I'm so thankful that there are still honest people in this world."
Conner, 18, of Laurel, was at Field 6 Thursday when the wallet disappeared, she said. Connor left the wallet in the girls' bathroom; the wallet had $25, a movie card, her ID, and the photo of her beloved mom.
"You can keep all the money and the wallet itself," she wrote on Facebook last week. "I don't even care about the ID at this point. All I want is the picture of my mother. It's the only thing I care about. So please, have a heart and give that back to me."
Bekah, who recovered after being badly injured in a lawn mower accident as a child, and heartbroken by the loss of her beloved mother, has said her faith in God has helped her during life's storms.
"I'm thankful God was looking out for me once again," she said.
