On the Agenda: Board to Discuss Electric Bill Increases
Don't miss the August Greenport Village Board meeting at 6 p.m. Monday.

The monthly meeting of the Greenport Village Board of Trustees is slated to take place Monday night at 6 p.m. at the Third Street Firehouse.
On the agenda are a number of hot button items, including further discussion of the increase on village electric bills due to a power purchase adjustment increase.
"This tough decision was based on research and discussion with the attorney firm representing us to the New York Power Authority, along with our auditor," Trustee Mary Bess Phillips said in an email to residents before the meeting.
She added that Greenport Village Mayor David Nyce went through the process of the "how and why" for the decision at last week's work session; Phillips said she planned to request that he repeat his explanation for the TV version of the meeting.
Also on the agenda is a board discussion on proposed residential rental permit regulations that has incited heated public discourse.
