Peconic Bay Medical Center to Join North Shore-LIJ Health System
PBMC announced the agreement on Friday.

Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) recently announced that they have approved a definitive agreement to become a full member of North Shore-LIJ Health System.
“After an exhaustive strategic planning process, we’ve concluded that partnering with North Shore-LIJ is in the best interest of the men, women and children who depend on PBMC,” Sherry Patterson, chair of the PBMC board said. “We believe this decision ensures we are capable of meeting not just the current needs but future health and wellness challenges of central Suffolk County and eastern Long Island.”
According to Patterson, the agreement would also establish important new regional medical services and provide long-term stability for our patients during a time of great volatility in the healthcare market.

It would join 19 other hospital within the health system, extending North Shore–LIJ’s presence into eastern Long Island for the first time while joining its existing Suffolk County hospitals: Huntington Hospital, Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and South Oaks Hospital in Amityville.
