Despite rain and wind, children carried brightly colored flowers to the railroad dock in Greenport to pay tribute to the fallen.
GREENPORT, NY — Rain and wind did nothing to stop the patriotism in Greenport Monday, as Scouts and the community gathered for a parade that led to the railroad dock, where the small crowd came carrying brightly colored flowers, to be tossed into the churning waters during a Memorial Day tribute to those that gave the greatest sacrifice.
The parade began in the Adams Street parking lot and headed to the dock, with community members carrying flowers and umbrellas and paying their respects during the service, which included song and prayer.
