Photos: Star-Spangled Celebration in Orient As Crowd Turns Out for Parade, Fun

ORIENT, NY - In a burst of patriotic pride, Orient residents took to the streets in a sea of red, white and blue Sunday for an annual Heritage Day parade and celebration hosted by the Oysterponds Historical Society.

The crowd enthusiastically welcomed United States Associate Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who participated in the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Young and old enjoyed the annual event, which included festivities at Poquatuck Park, hot dogs, a bike-decorating contest, and games for the kids.
