Police: Man Found Dead In The Long Island Sound Off Of Cutchogue

Police found Carl Joseph Czajkowski dead upon arrival, the cause is still under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious.

A man was found dead in the Long Island Sound, near the end of Duck Point Road in Cutchogue on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at about 7 p.m. according to police.

Southold Police received a report of an overdue scuba diver that was spearfishing in the Long Island Sound off of Cutchogue.

As a result of a search in that area with the assistance of Cutchogue Fire Department, Southold Bay Constables and Police, Carl Joseph Czajkowski, 66 of South Jamesport, was located in the water and found to be dead upon arrival, according to police.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiners Office was notified, responded and assisted with the investigation.

The cause of death is under investigation, but is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
