Reception For Artists For Gallery Crossing This Saturday

Fine Art of the East End presents a large selection of works by Gia Schifano and Scott Hewett at Gallery Crossing at 2745 Peconic Lane in Peconic. The exhibition will run from Thursday, Sept. 25 through Monday, Oct. 6. A reception for the artists will be held this ​Saturday, Sept. 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Gia Schifano - A self-taught landscape and portrait painter, Ms. Schifano has spent summers in the North Sea area of the South Fork since childhood, inspired by landscape to paint... wherever nature, sunlight, blue skies reflected in still water, salt air and honeysuckle can be found. Lately, she’s been transitioning from acrylics to water-soluble oils and venturing to the North Fork for inspiration. Gia’s work has been exhibited in numerous Long Island group shows for which she has received several prestigious awards.

Scott Hewett - A painter and Illustrator who works in acrylic, watercolor and mixed media, Mr. Hewett has been a resident of the South Fork since 1998, pursuing the ordinary and every day in his unique “Pop Realism” representational style. Scott converts Americana subject matter, domestic still life objects and landscape into formal compositions that offer high-key color and a range in scale. It has earned him critical acclaim and numerous solo and group exhibitions. Many of his paintings reside in private collections.
