Southold Students to Broadcast Election Coverage Live
Students in the Southold High School television broadcasting program will act as anchors, reporters, and producers Tuesday.

SOUTHOLD, NY — Southold students are poised to take part in what could arguably be the most important election in their lifetimes.
Superintendent David Gamberg announced Monday that, "in what may be a first in student media broadcasting for any high school program on Long Island, SOHO TV, the Southold High School television broadcasting program, will provide live streamed coverage of the historic 2016 presidential election.
The broadcast, which will take place from 7 p.m. to midnight, "provides students with an exceptionally authentic set of learning opportunities for civics, journalism, and communications engagement," he said.

With faculty and administrative support students will take on roles of news anchors, field reporters, graphic artists, producers, and other TV news functions, Gamberg said. The news team will provide both live streamed and taped coverage of the election.
The student TV studio is located at 420 Oaklawn Avenue in Southold, on the first floor of the high school, Gamberg said.
