Tall Ship Amistad Docks In Greenport

Free tours are available through July 17.

GREENPORT, NY — The sight of a Tall Ship docked in Greenport always signifies part of the magic of summer in the village.

The Freedom Schooner Amistad has been a much-anticpated visitor to Greenport in years' past. According to the Discovering Amistad website, "Discovering Amistad is a nonprofit educational organization that provides full-year programming on its tall ship, the Amistad, in classrooms and at historic sites of partner organizations. It enables children and adults in Connecticut and the region to discover the story of the Amistad and its impact on Connecticut and the nation. Importantly, the organization provides learning opportunities for children and adults to discover the relevance of the Amistad to today's world."

The Amistad will be docked at the east pier in Greenport through July 17, with free dockside tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
