All leaves must be in biodegradable paper leaf bags. Leaves in plastic bags, as well as loose leaves, will not be picked up.

The Town also reminded residents that once highway crews have completed a street, they cannot return and anyone who puts debris out after a street has been completed will be subject to an illegal dumping fine.

Commercial landscaping and tree removal companies are no longer permitted to place loads of branches or yard waste debris in the town right-of-way.

It will be the responsibility of the homeowner to make certain that their contractor(s) haul(s) such debris to the Cutchogue compost facility.

The Southold Town Compost Facility will be accepting residential yard waste free from Saturday, April 11 through
Sunday, May 17.

Anyone participating in this five-week grace period program must have a valid 2015 Southold Town disposal permit.
