Two men with signs reading "Defend Trump From the Coup" and "Trump Wants Peace, How About You?" stood with petitions in Cutchogue.

CUTCHOGUE, NY — Two men from New Jersey with signs reading "Defend Trump From the Coup" and "Trump Wants Peace, How About You?" set up a table outside the Cutchogue Post Office on Wednesday, asking residents to sign a petition.

John Scialdone and Christopher Sare, both of New Jersey, handed out a petition from the Veterans Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, or VIPS. VIPS, the men said, "has presented evidence to President Trump that Russia never hacked the Democratic National Committee" and said it was, instead, an "inside job."

A new special prosecutor should be appointed, the petition said. to investigate those responsible "for perpetrating the resulting hoax which has so damaged and divided our entire nation."
