Two Hospitalized After Man on Drugs Crashes Car in Mattituck: Police

The accident occurred Sunday night.

MATTITUCK, NY - A Riverhead man was arrested for driving while on drugs after an accident in Mattituck that sent him and his passenger to the hospital on Sunday night, according to Southold Town Police.

Officers responded to a single-car crash at New Suffolk Avenue and Route 25 at about 8:19 p.m., police said.

Upon arrival, officers found a female passenger outside of the vehicle unconscious and Joshua Odell, 22, hovering over her, according to police.

Odell admitted to being the driver of the car and also admitted to the officer that he used PCP and smoked marijuana before driving, police said.

Odell was arrested and transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment of his injuries and then released into the custody of police, according to police.

He was charged with felony driving while impaired by drugs and felony aggravated unlicensed operation, according to police.

The passenger was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with unknown injuries, police said.
