Unofficial Results: Nail-Biter Democratic Congressional Primary Too Close To Call

A neck and neck race left Anna Throne-Holst ahead by a narrow margin over Dave Calone, with absentee votes still to be counted.

After a nail biter race, opponents Anna Throne-Holst and Dave Calone will have to wait a bit longer to find out who won the Democratic congressional primary Tuesday.

With one district still to be reported, the results had Throne-Holst in the lead by a narrow margin of 5,439 to 5, 415.

Absentee votes still need to be counted, meaning no results will be available Tuesday night. According to 27east, there are 1,661 absentee ballots to be counted by the Suffolk County Board of Elections.

The winner will face off with incumbent Lee Zeldin in the upcoming election in November.

According to unofficial results by the Suffolk County Board of Elections, Throne-Holst took 50.07 percent of the vote to her opponent Dave Calone's 49.85 percent.

The race was exceptionally close, with the candidates sometimes less than 11 votes apart; voter turnout, however, was low.

Before the vote Tuesday, the pair answered questions on their campaign platforms for Patch.
